My first wellies

Vogue Spain May 2014 Issue via Studded-hearts.com

¡Splash!

It’s a pity that I do not own any picture of myself wearing my first rain boots. I believe they were red, though I’m not really sure. I was too small to keep that memory so alive. After thesecatiuscas (as we called the wellington boots on that time), others came until my mom got fed up with seeing me jumping on every frozen puddle to break it on my way to school. Ooopsss! Yeah, that was my great pleasure during winter. I walked for more than half an hour through dirt roads full of mud till mom left me at school… we were late almost every day… because I stopped at any stupid thing I found on my path. Yeah, there were everything: cows, sheeps, salamanders, snakes smashed by some car wheel… And now I happen to be little bit allergic to the countryside; more than 24 hours surrounded by so much nature, inside houses where cold gets into the bed linen for days, is too much for me. So I desperately look for a stronghold of civilization, I mean, 3G, wifi, sidewalks, shops, traffic lights.
After Kate Moss made that popular appearance wearing a pair of muddy Hunter boots at Glastonbury, we all wanted a pair like those ones. Mine were a birthday gift. For a rainy city in Galicia they are the best apparel for winter. Now I have them in Shanghai (the same pair), but it doesn’t rain that much. However this April it’s happened to fall water like it didn’t during winter, so they are the footwear most used during the weekend. I usually wear them with a skirt or a dress because I’m more comfortable… and you already know that I err on being “Mrs. Heat”. So with my boots on I’m ready to jump on puddles. Splash!
